Biogen Q3 2026 results graphic about revenue, EPS and guidance

Two numbers in the Biogen Q3 2026 results pull in opposite directions: revenue up 11% to $2,804.1 million, and non-GAAP earnings per share down to $2.62 from $4.81. Announced on 28 October 2026, the quarter also came with a guidance change that the headline describes as a raise but which, on inspection, is a small lift to the bottom of a range that was cut in July. This financial analysis walks through the income statement, the guidance trail, the balance sheet and the questions a careful reader should ask before drawing conclusions.

The guidance trail behind the Biogen Q3 2026 results

In February, FY2026 non-GAAP EPS guidance was $15.25 to $16.25. In July, it was cut to $12.00 to $13.00, with Biogen citing about $3.00 of acquired R&D and similar charges and roughly $0.85 of Apellis dilution. In October, the low end moved to $12.20. By our own calculation the midpoint went from $12.50 to $12.60, a rise of 0.8%. The company said Apellis dilution is now about $0.55 and charges about $3.20, which implies underlying guidance of $15.95 to $16.75. Adding back charges is the company’s framing; investors may weigh those costs differently. Revenue is expected to grow by a mid-single-digit percentage.

Revenue quality in the Biogen Q3 2026 results

Growth came from the Growth Portfolio, up 49% to about $1.26 billion, while multiple sclerosis products fell 13% to $919.3 million. Syfovre and Empaveli, acquired with Apellis in May 2026, added $191.3 million and $51.5 million, and prior-year comparisons use Apellis’s own filings. The mix raises a quality-of-growth question: how much is organic? The data we reviewed do not say. Acumen Research and Consulting’s Biopharmaceutical Market report values the global market at USD 328 billion in 2021 and USD 853 billion by 2030, a CAGR of 11.3%, with North America over 33% in 2021 and monoclonal antibodies about 32%. Biogen’s revenue growth of 11% is close to that long-run industry CAGR, which is a coincidence of scale and not a comparison of like periods. The report is broad and dated.
