The Narayana Health Q2 results FY27 are a lesson in reading acquisition-driven growth. Narayana Hrudayalaya reported consolidated operating revenue of ₹2,844 crore for the September 2026 quarter, up 73%, but strip out the UK business and the increase is 22.6% to ₹2,015.6 crore. This business analysis separates organic from acquired growth, examines margins and finance costs, and sets out what to watch. Calculations are our own and labelled. It is news reporting and not investment advice.
Narayana Health Q2 results FY27: business takeaways
- Consolidated revenue ₹2,844 crore, up 73%; ex-UK revenue ₹2,015.6 crore, up 22.6%.
- Implied UK revenue is about ₹828 crore, by our own subtraction.
- EBITDA ₹605.4 crore, up 42%, with margin down to 21.3% from 25.9%.
- Ex-UK EBITDA ₹545.2 crore, up 27.8%, at a margin of about 27%.
- Profit after tax ₹301.2 crore, up 16.6%, held back by depreciation and finance costs from the acquisition.
Organic versus acquired growth in the Narayana Health Q2 results FY27
The difference between the 73% headline and the 22.6% like-for-like growth is the contribution of the UK hospitals, which were announced as an acquisition in October 2025 for a reported price of about ₹2,200 crore, according to press reports. Consolidating the business adds revenue immediately, but at lower margins. By our own calculation, the UK revenue is about 29% of the consolidated total. Once the acquisition has been in the numbers for four quarters, headline growth should converge towards the organic rate.
Margin mix in the Narayana Health Q2 results FY27
The consolidated EBITDA margin fell by about 4.6 percentage points, our calculation from 25.9% to 21.3%, because the UK business earns a lower margin. The ex-UK margin of about 27% is higher than the consolidated figure. Management said the UK margins reflect separation-related costs that it expects to normalise, which is a forward-looking statement that we cannot verify. For investors, the question is the pace at which that gap closes.
India hospitals in the Narayana Health Q2 results FY27
The India hospital business reported revenue of ₹1,440.2 crore, up 16.6%, and EBITDA of ₹354.8 crore, up 30.8%, with the margin up to 26.8% from 23.8%. International patient revenue rose 75.7%. Operating leverage is visible: EBITDA grew almost twice as fast as revenue. Dr Emmanuel Rupert, Managing Director and Group CEO, also pointed to narrower losses at the Cayman insurance business. See the company website for the group.
Finance costs and profit in the Narayana Health Q2 results FY27
Profit after tax rose 16.6%, slower than EBITDA growth of 42%. Acquisitions bring higher depreciation on acquired assets and higher finance costs if debt funds the deal. The sources do not disclose the debt used, so we cannot size the interest burden. Shares closed at ₹1,720.20 on the NSE on 30 October 2026, which is a price fact and not a valuation view.
Integration economics behind the Narayana Health Q2 results FY27
Integrating an acquired hospital business typically involves separating it from the seller’s systems, building new support functions and aligning clinical and procurement practices. These steps create one-off costs and can depress margins for several quarters, which is consistent with management’s reference to separation-related costs. The benefit, if it comes, arrives through better purchasing, shared services and higher utilisation.
For analysts, the practical test is whether the UK margin improves sequentially. A single quarter cannot answer that, and the sources give no UK-only profit figure.
Peer context for the Narayana Health Q2 results FY27
Indian hospital groups are using both organic bed additions and acquisitions. For another example, see our report on Fortis and Suguna. The common thread is the trade-off between speed of expansion and margin dilution.
Market context from Acumen Research and Consulting
We did not find an Acumen report on hospital services. A related equipment report, Acumen Research and Consulting’s Hospital Beds Market, values that segment at USD 3.6 billion in 2022 and projects USD 7.2 billion by 2032, a CAGR of 7.2%. By our own calculation, that is about double in ten years. It signals capacity investment, not any operator’s earnings. The page was last updated in March 2023, so use it as indicative.
